A man who was found dead with an alcohol bottle and drug paraphernalia had a “history of mental health issues”, an inquest has heard.
Steven Carl Davidson, 31, was found dead on December 8, 2022, after police were called to a hostel in Brighton where he was living.
Mr Davidson, originally from Salisbury, was found face down on his bed at the hostel.
At an inquest into his death, Brighton and Hove assistant coroner Dr Karen Henderson told the court that Mr Davidson was a regular inpatient at Mill View Hospital in Hove.
Mill View Hospital cares for people with acute mental health problems until they are ready to leave hospital and live in the community.
A provisional cause of death was given for Mr Davidson as acute alcohol toxicity.
Dr Henderson opened and immediately adjourned the inquest on Thursday, January 19, pending further investigations.
The inquest is set to be held on May 10 at the Brighton Coroner’s Office in Woodvale Cemetery.
