Brighton is one of the best places in the country for music lovers, a study has found.

It said the city was the seventh best in the UK, beating places such as Cardiff and Liverpool.

Research by the online casino Slingo found that Brighton had produced 34 top artists, including Architects, Rizzle Kicks and Celeste.

The study said residents could look forward to more than 400 upcoming concerts and 14 festivals in the coming months.

Brighton has recently hosted high-profile gigs in venues such as the Brighton Centre including The 1975, The Kaiser Chiefs and Status Quo.

The study ranked cities against each other based on the number of venues in the city as well as forthcoming festivals.

London topped the list followed by Manchester and Glasgow.

The research also looked into what was the most popular genre in the UK, which was found to be rock/pop.
