An international electric vehicle rally will visit later this year, bringing a modern twist to a century-old motoring tradition.
The London to Brighton electric vehicle rally is going across the channel in 2023, as participants of the event continue to Paris.
The rally is the biggest in England, and the first international event of its kind, setting out to "show the world the accessibility, variety, diversity and the limitless possibilities of travelling in a low carbon world."
It returns to Madeira Drive for the third year in a row, with electric motorists being urged to sign up to the event which has featured incredible inventions, electric planes and solar powered cars since its creation in 2021.
Among the past entrants was barefooted inventor and engineer Cedric Lynch, in his self-described "motorbike with a streamlined body."
He initially built his creation in 1991, and Cedric believes his home-built vehicle would take him from "Potters bar to Langport, and back", on a single charge, using only two horsepower to reach 60 miles per hour.
This year the route leaves Westminster on July 1, and arrives in Paris the following day. Displays in Brighton, Dieppe and Paris will be held, where the public can learn more about renewable energy and electric vehicles.
Tom Druitt, co-founder of the rally, said: “Our aim with the electric vehicle rally has always been to celebrate the rapid development of electric vehicles and renewable energy, so we’re pleased to be able to partner with EDF again this year.
"We want to simply bring a focus to the excellent work that they do. For the 2023 event it is imperative that we highlight the possibilities of driving electric vehicles.
"With the help of Motability Operations, we want to illustrate how electric vehicles can also be accessible for disabled people."
The event is sponsored by Motability, who provide the Motability scheme to over 650,000 people.

A spokesman for the London to Paris electric vehicle rally said: "The aim for 2023 is for over 100 electric vehicles driven by UK and French entrants to compete in this energy trial.
"We want to show the general public and indeed the world the accessibility, varierty, diversity and the limitless possibilities of travelling in a low carbon world."
Founder of electric vehicle show Fully Charged, Robert Llewellyn said: "We are delighted to support the fantastic London to Brighton Rally as Media Partner for the third consecutive year as they extend the route in 2023 to finish in Paris.
"Now we just need to decide which electric vehicles we will be entering."
The rally has several categories, from e-bikes to cars, and even electric planes.
