Two Natwest branches in Sussex are set to shut down as part of a new wave of closures in the coming months.

The closures come as 23 branches across the UK are set to close as more people move to online banking.

Branches are set to close between April and June this year, with some dates yet to be decided.

In Sussex, Natwest is set to close branches in East Street in Shoreham and Gatwick Road in Crawley.

In Crawley, the bank branch is set to close on May 11, while the date for the Shoreham closure has yet to be decided.

In a notice on their website, Natwest said: “The way people bank with us has changed dramatically in recent years, with an increased demand for mobile and online services as customers benefit from a faster and easier way to bank.

“Closing a branch is a decision we take very seriously. We know it can affect people who are less confident with the alternatives we offer, and we'll always work hard to guide you through the changes and find the best way to serve you from now on.”

The announcement means that currently 87 high street bank branches are set to close this year.
