Emergency services attended a fire near allotments last night.
Videos show orange smoke rising into the sky, with flames towering above the hedgerows by the East Side allotments in Newhaven last night.
Lauren Dobson, who was at the scene, said: "I was at my friends house, who lives in Newhaven and we could see the fire out the window.
"I quickly got my phone out and started recording it. We then drove down to behind B&Q on McKinlay Way, which is where we thought it was coming from based on the view outside the window.
"My friend got out the car and run over the grass banks and they could see the fire brigade and the heaps of smoke.
"I think there were others there helping to try and put it out.
"It’s so sad."
The flames could be seen from across the town at around 5.30pm on Sunday.
