A ride on the Palace Pier has "disappeared" as it undergoes maintenance.

The Booster, which catapults riders 130 feet into the air, has been partly dismantled as part of annual work to maintain the rides on the pier.

People walking along Brighton seafront noticed that the towering attraction was missing from the end of the pier at the weekend, with some taking to social media to question where it had gone.

A spokeswoman for Brighton Palace Pier said: “Booster is having major annual maintenance and parts of it are dismantled to go off-site.

“We always do a winter maintenance on all rides to ensure they are in tip-top condition.”

Booster, which first opened in April 2006, boasts “the best views of Brighton”, with riders spun, turned upside down and catapulted above the sea.
