No trains are running on the Brighton mainline as a result of rail strikes disrupting servicers.

The industrial action by members of the ASLEF and RMT unions means that services will be paused today due to a lack of drivers and railway staff.

Trains will also be affected on Saturday morning with services likely to begin later than normal as a knock-on from today’s action.

Strikes have affected services on ThamesLink, Southern and Gatwick Express trains. GoviaThameslink, who run all of these services, operate all trains from Brighton railway station as well as surrounding stations.

Today’s strikes come after action on Wednesday, February 1, which also meant that no trains were running from Brighton.

Traffic on roads is said to be heavier than normal as those who would usually commute by train are being forced to make alternative arrangements.
