Phone boxes that could have been used for micro businesses have failed to sell.

The six boxes, which were priced between £5,000 and £32,000, were not snapped up at an auction earlier today.

Despite suggestions that they could be used to house coffee shops and florists, the classic red boxes dotted across Brighton are still up for grabs.

The boxes, situated in “prime locations around town”, went to auction with property agents Strettons.

Andrew Brown, director of auctions for Strettons, said: “I think these red telephone boxes are a great, reasonably priced option for people who want to open a small business. It is also a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to add to their portfolios.

Following the auction, a spokeswoman for Strettons confirmed that the boxes did not sell.

The boxes, in St Peter's Place, Marine Parade and New Road, are currently still listed on property website Rightmove, with some prices on the adverts now reduced.
