Recovery work is underway after a car and van collided on a bridge along the A259.

Part of the highway in Shoreham remains closed following the crash earlier this morning, with debris seen scattered across the road.

Both vehicles suffered severe damage in the crash, with police and ambulance crews also spotted at the scene.

Highways teams were seen clearing some of the wreckage from the crash following the accident.

Recovery crews are also working to tackle an oil spillage along the highway before the road can reopen.

It is unknown if anyone has been injured in the collision.

Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
