A supermarket has been gutted as renovation works take place.

The Tesco Express in Jubilee Street, Brighton is closed for six weeks while the shop undergoes refurbishment.

There is a pile of rubble in the middle of the store, with contractors busy removing the debris into the back of a van.

The nearest Tesco Express is in Queen's Road.

A spokeswoman for Tesco said: “We’re excited to be fully refurbishing our Brighton Jubilee Street Express to provide an improved shopping experience for our customers."

The store is set to reopen on Thursday, March 30, when customers will be met with new fridges, freezers, aisles and shelves.
