Some of the county’s schools have been affected by the adverse weather conditions.

Snow has hit parts of Sussex this morning, with issues on the road and a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in place until tomorrow morning.

Several schools have made the decision to open later or close.

Beacon Academy in Crowborough will open later at 10am.

Its Beeches site will open at 11.20am.

Students have been advised to only travel in if they think it is safe to do so.

East Sussex County Council's website says: "Due to adverse weather conditions the school will open slightly later at 10am at our Beeches site and 11:20am at our Green Lane site to allow for an improvement to road and site conditions.

"Students should only attempt to come in if they feel it is safe to do so.

"Students are permitted to wear weather appropriate footwear, but all other uniform and dress code expectations remain."

Jarvis Brook School Crowborough will be closed today because its heating is broken.

The council's website says: "The heating is broken in the main school. Please accept our apologies. The pre-school is open as usual. Teachers will be on Teams from 9 am to 3pm.

St Michael's Primary School, Withyham is opening later than normal.

The school will open at 9.30am.

The council's website states: "We are open but from 9.30am this morning. "This will ensure safe travel for all and that staff can make the site safe. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause."

Ticehurst and Flimwell Church of England Primary School will also be opening later at 9.30am.

"We will be opening the site to children at 9.30am this morning to ensure safe travel for all and to make the site safe," the school said.

"We look forward to seeing you at 9.30am-please check Parentmail for further details."

Uplands Academy, Wadhurst, will open to students at 10am.
