A property developer is hoping to win the support of residents after buying land previously earmarked for nearly a dozen controversial homes.
Development business You Are Home now owns the site of the old auction rooms next to Garden Street and Southover Road, in Lewes.
The previous owner submitted plans to build ten homes on the site, which were initially rejected but later given the green light after an appeal, causing uproar in the community.
But the new developer is now working on plans to build on the site while keeping residents happy.

Tom Hamilton-Hird, from Lewes, and head of sales at You Are Home, said: “This is an important site in Lewes and our focus is to create a carbon net zero development including lovely homes which fit well into the beautiful vernacular of Lewes and this site.”
He said the new plans are based on feedback from the previous ones, and designers have had pre-application discussions with the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) and the South East Design Review Panel.
Plans will be submitted to the SDNPA in the spring.
