Shoppers queued down the street for the opening of a comic shop chain in the city.
Forbidden Planet, a comic, cult TV and collectibles store, in West Street, Brighton opened today.
The first 300 shoppers received a goodie bag including one of the popular collectible Funko Pop toys and other merchandise.
Some shoppers queued from 6.30am to be the first to arrive at the store, which is on two levels.
Staff at the store expressed their "excitement" for the opening.
Sammi, who lives in Brighton and works at the store said: "I saw that Forbidden Planet was coming to Brighton and knew I had to apply for the job.
"I have visited the other shops around the country and knew I would love working there."
The Brighton team were hired a few weeks ago and have been in the shop helping get ready for the opening today.
Tullulah, who also works at the shop, said: "It is so surreal seeing people wandering around. We have been used to it being empty."
Naomi Jeffrey, of Lewes Road, Brighton, was one of the first customers to arrive.
She told The Argus: "I waited since about 8am so it was not too bad at all.
"We used to travel up to the London branch so it is great there is one in Brighton now."
Her partner collects Funko Pops which the store sells.
"We will be popping in here on pay day and hopefully not spending all our money," Naomi added.
"It is so much nicer to be able to see what you are buying. You can browse the whole range and get a feel for the shape and size of items before you purchase.
"Brighton is unique so I think the shop will do well here."
Zara Weston, who turned 21 today, said she had to come to the opening on her birthday.
"I used to go up to the London store so it is great to have one so much nearer," said Zara.
"I saw about the opening on Reddit but I think it has spread more through word of mouth now. I was surprised there were so many people here today."
The shop is open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.
Sunday opening hours are 11am to 5pm.
