A phone worth £1,100 was reportedly stolen during a sale when a prospective buyer failed to transfer the money for it.

A man agreed to buy a Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 phone in Brighton on Thursday, February 9, and met with the seller to finalise the purchase.

He later left the scene saying that he would transfer £1,100 for the phone via bank transfer.

However, no money was ever sent and the buyer has since ceased contact with the seller.

Police are now searching for the man after the seller's bank confirmed there were no pending transactions.

A photograph has been released of a white man with black hair in relation to the case.

The man is wearing grey jogging bottoms, black Nike shoes and a burgundy Under Armour t-shirt.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “If you know the identity of the man police wish to speak with please report it online or call 101 quoting serial number 755 of 11/02.”
