Two people who appeared in court for abuse and cruelty against a child have been cleared of all charges.

Jack Shaw, 26, of Fletching Close, Brighton, first appeared at Lewes Crown Court on March 1 charged with grievous bodily harm against a two-year-old boy between October 1, 2020, and December 14, 2020.

Louise Baker, also 26, of Springfield Road, Brighton, was charged with cruelty relating to the same child, during the same period.

On the first day of the trial, the jury was shown a file containing 40 photographs of the child taken on December 14, 2022, when the pair were arrested.

But on March 13, a submission was made by the defence to abandon the case, which the Crown Prosecution Service did not appeal against.

It meant the judge instructed the jury to find the defendants not guilty on all charges.
