A crystal meth smoking vicar who boasted about corrupting young boys and fantasised about sacrificing babies to Satan is being kept in custody following an overdose.

Rev David Renshaw, from Worthing, was remanded into custody while he waits to be sentenced after a jury found him guilty of having more than 22,000 indecent images and videos of children and animals.

He was released on bail following the guilty verdict and his sentencing was delayed after he suffered an overdose of painkillers.

Renshaw arrived at Hove Crown Court by taxi from hospital today.

Her Honour Judge Christine Henson KC remanded the cleric into custody.

He will be sentenced in May.

Renshaw boasted about corrupting boys with drugs and enjoyed watching animal porn.

The 63-year-old, who said he had few limits and could sink really low, told other paedophiles online: “I’m a sadistic bastard.

“Through and f****** through.”

Police found rotting dead animals, used needles and drug pipes when they raided his parish home.

The RSPCA seized severely malnourished dogs, cats and chickens after police raided Renshaw’s home in Worthing.

The jury heard graphic descriptions of horrific child sex abuse videos police found on the drive.

Police also found dozens of porn DVDs when they searched his house.

In the witness box, Renshaw said he used crystal meth when he was lonely and bored.

The Reverend also discussed abducting boys off the street.

Renshaw was made priest in charge of Christ Church Worthing in December 2019.

He was on long term sick leave and in hospital when police raided his home on August 11, 2020.

He was cautioned by police for possession of class A and B drugs in May 2021.

The jury did not believe his explanations for his online activity and returned eight verdicts in less than 25 mins.

Jurors were offered counselling after listening to graphic descriptions of the downloads.

They found him guilty of six counts of making and possessing indecent images of children, possession of extreme pornographic images of bestiality and possession of prohibited images of children.

Judge Henson told Renshaw: “I’m considering an immediate custodial term of some length.”

A date will be fixed for sentencing at another hearing next week.
