Crowds of onlookers gathered at the scene of a six-car crash in a residential street.

The collision happened in Clun Road, Littlehampton, yesterday afternoon. 

Police said a Mercedes crashed with several other vehicles and the people in it fled from the scene. 

Six cars, some of which were parked, were damaged.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing to locate the Mercedes occupants.

"A large number of people were present in the area at the time of the collision and in the aftermath and officers are asking anyone with mobile phone footage from this time to send it in."

The crash happened at about 5.40pm. One onlooker, Jewels Bushnell, told The Argus: "It is just so dangerous for residents and children. Cars fly down that road all day and night."
