That's the risk with a Sunday gig right?

Bloke in front of me must've had a Sunday roast with sprouts and cabbage I think because he kept letting rip. The first couple of times the people around us were working out who it was then it was clear. After the third I moved.

Anyway Blur at the Winter Gardens in Eastbourne was a trip back to Britpop and also a joy with their great new songs too.

I am a Britpop kid. I was a fan when the big Blur V Oasis battle took place. The way I remember it, was that most of my friends liked them both anyway.

And for the old farts like me last night's warm up show had lots of belters from the 1990s.

Actor Phil Daniels, star of the film Quadrophenia, even appeared to sing his part in the song Parklife.

There was also the likes of Popscene, End of the Century, To the End and This is a Low. We all sang along like we were back at the Indie Disco and the Goths had moved to the side as it was our turn to dance.

And it is clearly Blur's turn to be back in the sun. These songs simply must get played again to big crowds. And the good news is that Blur are touring this summer, with two shows at Wembley.

From last night's gig it looks like they'll also play the absolute crackers Beetlebum, Song 2, Tender, The Universal. And Girls & Boys has lost none of its relevance, it was written about the youngsters holidaying in the 90s but translates just as well to the Love Island generation. Reminded me of the saying plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose – the more things change, the more they stay the same.

And Blur remain absolutely amazing. Go to Wembley if you can.
