People watched on in horror as a man smashed bus windows in a bloody incident yesterday.

Windows on the top deck of a bus can be seen severely damaged while the rear window was entirely destroyed as the vehicle stopped in Marine Parade, Brighton.

The incident near Harry Ramsden’s fish and chip shop saw emergency services respond at roughly 6.30pm on Monday (May 22).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "A 42-year-old man was injured in the incident. Officers attended and arrested the man on suspicion of criminal damage.

"He was then taken to hospital, where he remains."

Onlookers on the ground watched on helplessly as the incident unfolded before the man left the bus and headed west towards Old Steine.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital.

The bus company was contacted for comment.
