Brighton Palace Pier has received criticism from some customers for not allowing dogs on the popular tourist attraction.

Despite this, the management has defended the policy, stating that it is for the safety of both the dogs and the other customers.

One Trip Advisor reviewer, Darren_R1, even wrote a poem in protest, stating that dogs should be allowed on the attraction.

"Brighton Pier, so grand and wide,
"A place for fun and thrill and pride.
"The ocean breeze, the salt and spray,
"A perfect spot to while away the day.

"But alas, a sign that catches the eye,
"No dogs allowed" it does decry.
"The faithful hound, the loyal friend,
"Must stay behind, and this must end.

The Argus: Not welcome: Dogs are not allowed on Brighton Palace PierNot welcome: Dogs are not allowed on Brighton Palace Pier

"For what is Brighton Pier without a pup,
"A wagging tail, a friendly yelp, a playful jump?
"The joy they bring, the love they share,
"Should be welcomed, not banned from there.

"So let us rally, and make a stand,
"For dogs belong in every land.
"And on Brighton Pier, let them roam free,
"A cherished part of this beloved sea."

Brighton Palace Pier responded to Darren_R1's poem, stating that while it was "lovely", the pier is too busy for dogs.

A spokesman replied: "Lovely poem but a busy pier is not the place for dogs.

"The pier gets too busy and dogs get frightened, also health and safety and also relieving themselves on the deck and around the bins, who will clear it up?

"What if the dogs get into fights, there are too many risks involved with allowing dogs on Brighton Pier and so the rule is no dogs."

While some customers may find the rule unfair, Brighton Palace Pier maintains that it is for the safety of all visitors.

The Argus:

Aaron C, who was unable to enter the pier with his dog, wrote in his review, "For some unknown reason to man and God we were unable to enter the pier at the gates due to having a wonderful little doggy with us, all we wanted to do is walk along the outside of the pier, not inside the buildings to the end and the only explanation we got that it was it was private property."

Brighton Palace Pier responded to Aaron C by stating that "the pier is no place for dogs, we can get extremely busy especially in the warmer weather".

Another reviewer, Hellhavenofury, argued that "Dogs are more popular than ever thesedays - you need to keep up with the modern world."

However, Brighton Palace Pier remains steadfast in their policy, stating that it has been in place for a long time and will continue to be enforced.
