Hikers will bare all for a walk through the countryside.

Walkers are invited to strip off for a day out on the Cuckoo Trail, walking eight miles from Heathfield to Hailsham all while raising money for homeless charity Shelter.

Signs will be erected at the entrance of the route to warn innocent passersby of the bare-buttocked ramblers.

The walkers will leave Heathfield at 10.30am and pass the sights and sounds of the former railway route before finishing with a picnic in Hailsham.

There is an option to return in the buff or take a bus back to Heathfield - but organisers have warned they must wear clothes on this service.

The event is run by East Sussex Naturists.

A spokesman said: "This is a unique opportunity to walk naked along a public country trail in East Sussex and raise funds for Shelter.

"You can buy a place on the walk for £10 and there is the option to raise additional funds from sponsorship.

"It is a friendly event for all."

Wealden District Council has warned people of the upcoming event on its Facebook page.

It said: "We have been made aware of a clothes-optional sponsored walk, which will be taking place along the Cuckoo Trail on Saturday 3rd June 2023.

"Walkers will be travelling from Heathfield to Hailsham and some participants may be fully nude.

"The organisers will be placing information signs in advance of the event at entrances to these parts of the Cuckoo Trail, so that people are aware before entering the trail."
