Award-winning craft gin Brighton Gin has revealed its new limited-edition bottle in celebration of Pride.

Available from June 1 to mark the beginning of Pride season 2023, the bottle features a new design that is inspired by the inclusive Pride flag, originally re-designed by intersex-equality campaigner and artist Valentino Vecchietti.

Founder of Brighton Gin Kathy Caton said the bottle is a celebration of the diversity within her team, with 70 per cent of staff belonging to the LGBTIQA+ community.

Kathy founded Brighton Gin in 2014, with her lightbulb moment coming unexpectedly as she took a Sunday morning run on Hove seafront.

“It’s always a very proud and exciting moment when we launch our limited-edition Pride bottles,” she said.

“This year, the team wanted to create a design that celebrates both the diversity within the business and of the wider LGBTIQA+ community, and the progress that has been made in the fight for equality and equity, and that celebrates the value of allyship and support within our community.

“We are one of the very few LGBTQ+-founded, owned and run distilleries not just in the UK, but in the world.

“With 70 per cent of our team coming from the LGBTIQA+ community and with our belief in the value of the circular economy and giving back, we’re all very proud to be both celebrating the Inclusive Pride flag and supporting the Rainbow Fund.”

Brighton Gin was among the first products to be shipped to Australia and New Zealand following the formation of a new trade deal between the countries and the UK.

The agreements are the first trade deals negotiated post-Brexit to enter into force and come after the UK, Australia and New Zealand completed their domestic ratification processes.

The limited-edition Pride bottle is available for pre-order now directly from Brighton Gin online (www.brightongin.com) and will be available to buy from June 1 at selected independent retailers in the UK.

For every bottle sold, Brighton Gin will donate £1 to the Rainbow Fund, the local grant-giving organisation that supports LGBTIQA+ and HIV+ organisations in Brighton and Hove

The city’s Pride celebrations are set to return between August 5 and 6.
