Police were called upon to protect a group of women from a man acting inappropriately during a night out in Brighton city centre .

Thanks to the teamwork between Night Safety Marshals and officers, the women were safeguarded, the police said.

Brighton and Hove Police took to Facebook to announce the successful partnership, stating that Night Safety Marshals and officers were out working together over the weekend to keep women safe.

On Friday night, PC West responded to a call-out from the Night Safety Marshals, to protect a group of women from the inappropriate behaviour of the man.

The police added: "We believe teamwork is the only way to work and we are lucky to have great partners in the city who stand with us to help keep you safe.

"Together we can do great things."

The Argus:

The Night Safety Marshals are a highly trained team, deployed at specific locations around Brighton’s night-time economy to identify issues and protect vulnerable people.

They receive advanced vulnerability training, allowing them to identify vulnerable individuals and signpost them to support services.

They also have mobile handsets to link them with the police, harness body-worn cameras to assist with the prosecution of offenders and can call upon different emergency services when necessary.

The Night Safety Marshals are in addition to the extensive range of measures aimed at keeping people safe in the night-time economy, according to the police.
