A bicycle shop in the city has closed with bailiffs taking control of the premises.

The Bike Shed, in London Road, Brighton, has been shut since the end of May after the locks on the door were changed on behalf of the landlord.

And while it is not clear exactly why the decision was made, fans of the store can expect to see it reopen in a new location.

“We are opening very soon in Hove,” reads a sign on the door.

“Please check our website for updates and use the contact form to reach us in the meantime.”

The showroom sits mostly empty with a few products still dotted around the floor, while a handful of lights remain on inside.

Messages of support have been shared online, with one person saying of the closure: “That’s a shame. I don’t often use bike shops in Brighton, but I recall that they were a friendly bunch.”

The Bike Shed was contacted for comment.
