The name of a new bridge alongside the A27 will be revealed today.

National Highways will unveil the bridge which is just east of Drusillas Zoo from 8.30am.

It caps off the conclusion of the £75 million East of Lewes scheme which included a 13km cycle path, new crossing points and junction improvements to help reduce congestion.

There were more than 500 suggestions for National Highways’ bridge naming competition.

National Highways project lead Cristina Bucur said: “Over the years, our team have been working incredibly hard to overcome challenges and deliver this project.

“The changes made to key junctions along the route have improved the flow of traffic.

“Our new path is improving links to the communities along the A27 between Firle and Polegate, with easier access to the South Downs National Park and an alternative more sustainable way of travel.”
