A rare 1960s Aston Martin came off the road and smashed into a garden fence.

The crash happened on Friday afternoon on a bend of the A272 near Petworth.

The Aston Martin DB6 was said to be bought for £40,000 20 years ago.

Sussex Police put police tape around the vintage car, which was waiting to be recovered.

One person said: “The owner paid £40,000 for it 20 years ago. It’s now insured for £500,000. Ouch, hopefully salvageable and not a write-off.”

There are only 139 Aston Martin DB6s left in the UK with an MOT.

Sussex Police have been approached for comment.
