A sea swimmer furiously shouted at a fisherman, claiming a hook became lodged in his necked.

The swimmer can be heard screaming at the fisherman on a groyne near Brighton’s West Pier on Thursday, telling him: “You don’t come near me, I will hurt you.”

The fisherman remains calm throughout, telling the topless man to call the police as the abuse continues.

Oddly, the fisherman is repeatedly told to “p*** off”, despite being blocked in by the aggressive man with nowhere to go.

The swimmer then says: “The hook was in my f****** neck” before commenting on the fisherman’s nationality, which we have chosen to remove from the video.

On two occasions, the swimmer seems to want to have a fight with the man – who responds by saying he does not like fighting.

It is unclear exactly what the swimmer expects to come of the situation but he does little to try and resolve it.

Warning: Video contains strong language throughout

The entire confrontation lasts for just over a minute, but it was enough time for the swimmer to swear a whopping 30 times.

A stunned onlooker filmed the incident, saying the man acted in a “completely unacceptable manner, with aggressive language” and he was trying to intimidate the fisherman but did not succeed.

He said: “The swimmer also claimed it was illegal to fish on the seafront, despite it being completely legal to do so.

“He alleged that the fisherman’s hook got wrapped around his neck whilst swimming which led to him hurling some horrendous abuse towards the fisherman, where he even threatened to fight him.”

He eventually turns away from the fisherman and saunters up the groyne as if nothing had happened, leaving people nearby in a state of shock.

Fishing is permitted anywhere on the beach in Brighton.
