An international jousting tournament will be hosted at a historic castle next month to crown a “champion of champions” from previous winners.

Arundel castle will play host to the jousting event displaying the horseback skills of eight competitors from across the world.

Jousters including a world champion and fighters with work on Game of Thrones and Poldark will take to the lists in the hope of taking the overall crown.

Andrew Lewis, castle manager at the 11th century site, said: "We are thrilled to once again host the International Medieval Jousting Tournament at Arundel Castle.

“With this year’s event crowning the Champion of Champions, it's a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the adrenaline-pumping thrill of medieval jousting in the stunning setting of one of England's most iconic castles."

Riders at this year’s event include Phillip Leitch, an Australian jouster who works as a full time knight and holds the world title.

Also featured is England’s Mike Collins who has spent over a decade riding on TV including in Game of Thrones, Poldark and The Crown.

A medieval festival including crafts, food and axe throwing among other activities is also set to take place.

The event will take place from Tuesday, July 25 until Sunday, July 30.
