Police are searching a building site after the sighting of a bone was reported near the home of a woman who went missing 15 years ago.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said they received the report about the Ferringham Lane site yesterday, at about 2.45pm.
“Police received a report about the possible sighting of a bone of unknown origin at a site in Ferringham Lane, Ferring, at about 2.45pm on Wednesday, June 28," said a spokesman for the force.
“Officers are at the scene and enquiries are taking place to locate and then to examine the bone.”
Mum-of-two Elaine Taggart, 49, who lived in the same road, was last seen on January 3, 2008, when she gave her friend a lift home from work.
She was a catering finance manager for Chartwells at Brighton College.

He car was found the day after her disappearance near Goring railway station, a five-minute drive from her home.
Police said her passport, £2,000 in cash, clothes and jewellery had been taken from the family home.
Police and family members issued numerous appeals for information in the weeks and months following her disappearance.
