Smoke is billowing into the air above a commuter road this morning as a sports car remains engulfed by flames.

Traffic on the A23 north of Bolney is down to just one lane at a reduced speed as drivers edge carefully past the fire.

The incident was first reported at roughly 6am today (July 6) with footage showing the car well alight before fire crews arrived.

"The fire was of accidental ignition and fortunately there were no casualties.

"Once the fire was extinguished, fire crews left the scene at around 7am.

"Sussex Police also attended the incident to assist with traffic management."
