A historic property with an artistic past is on the market for more than £1 million.

The Grade II* listed former Sussex yeoman’s farmstead in Cinder Hill, North Chailey, is being sold with a guide price of £1,425,000.

A previous owner of the 15th century home was acclaimed artist Marjorie Davies who provided illustrations for some of children’s writer Enid Blyton’s book.

Ms Davies lived in Chailey from 1954 until her death in 2007 at the age of 101.

She even designed the village’s sign.

Batcheller Monkhouse, which has listed the property, described the farmstead as “superbly presented”.

The description on the estate and letting agents’ website said: “Coppards Bridge is a remarkable property that showcases the architectural style of a timber-framed Sussex open hall, dating back to 1473 in the late medieval era.
