Goodwood Festival of Speed has been cancelled today.

Event organisers confirmed last night that the Saturday (July 15) of Goodwood will not go ahead due to strong winds.

The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning in place across Sussex for “unseasonably high winds” with gusts of 50 miles per hour predicted.

“It is with deep regret that the Festival of Speed will not go ahead tomorrow,” officials said last night.

“On-site safety is our highest priority and the forecasted high winds will pose a serious risk to the various temporary structures across the site.

“Everyone at Goodwood is disappointed that we will not run the even on Saturday for the first time in the festival’s 30-year history.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

Goodwood said Sunday will go ahead as planned.
