A South Downs walk has been named among the most “stunning” in the country as hikers head to the countryside for the summer.
The track from Harting Downs to Amberly in West Sussex has been described as a “firm favourite” with hikers.
Following the South Downs Way for 18 miles, the trek includes views across the South Downs perfect for the summer sun.
In research from outdoor experts Blacks, Aaron Jewell, who recommended the walk, said: “As you descend the other side back down the well-signposted trail of the South Downs Way, you enjoy constant sweeping views of the countryside. Starting early is fantastic, walking head-on towards a stunning sunrise.
“At the end of the hike, as you descend to the river Arun running through Amberly, you can find a café or pub to refuel and a train station to retreat home. There is also an option to extend your walk by following the river to the beautiful town of Arundel and its many coffee shops.”
Beginning at the Harting Downs car park near Petersfield in Hampshire, the walk includes 2000 ft of ascent and is just one of the many walks in the South Downs.
