Concert goers face being stranded as trains are set to finish early due to strikes.

On The Beach returns to Brighton this weekend with Royal Blood headlining on Saturday evening.

However, with the festival scheduled to run until 10pm, music lovers could be forced to find alternatives to the railway as Brighton Station will close at 9pm.

Train strikes on Saturday by rail union RMT mean a reduced timetable will run throughout the day.

Passengers are being told to complete their journeys before 7pm to avoid disruption but this would mean many concert goers missing the headliners.

In response to the concerns, a Govia Thameslink spokeswoman said: “Tomorrow is an RMT strike day, which is impacting services across the network. Brighton Station will be closing earlier in line with this.

“In regards to the On the Beach event, we have dedicated tweets going out with customer advice and according to data from the council, 60 to 70 per cent of event attendees are from the local area so will hopefully not be too impacted by this and could potentially find other options.”

Royal Blood are the first live music headliners at On The Beach with the festival previously focusing on DJs and dance music.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are set to headline the festival on Sunday.

The issues come after Govia Thameslink announced that no trains would run on the Saturday of Brighton Pride next weekend.

On the Beach organisers were asked for comment regarding the possible transport delays.
