A tractor and a van collided close to the junction of two major roads.
Firefighters from Brighton and Burgess Hill were called to the junction of the A23 and A27 in Brighton at 7.22am today.
A tractor had tipped on to its side about 200 yards north of the junction on the southbound side of the road.
Traffic coming into Brighton and Hove was restricted to one lane.
Police and paramedics also went to the scene.
No one was thought to have been trapped in the accident.
It is not yet clear if anybody was injured.
