A shocking video showing teenagers brutally punching and kicking each other has appeared on the internet.

In scenes reminiscent of hit Hollywood film Fight Club, two young men bare knuckle brawl until the loser lies apparently unconscious on the floor.

A crowd of youths carrying bags full of beer gather round the fighters, identified on the clip as 'Mustapha' and 'Brooker'.

The 55-second video was posted on YouTube on Tuesday (July 1) and was filmed at night in a dimly lit Dorsten Square in Bewbush, Crawley.

The brutal brawl, called 'Typical nite in Bewbush', ends when one of the boys lies on the pavement while other teenagers run to take more images on their mobile phones.

Police are hoping to identify the people in the video, which appears to have been posted by a 20-year-old man whose profile name is 'Danstovell05'.

Sergeant Roger Fox of Crawley Police said: "We have been made aware of the images that have appeared on YouTube, which may or may not be linked to Crawley.

"Sussex Police take very seriously any situation where young people are subjected to, and involved in violence and we appeal to anyone who can assist us with the identification of the people involved."

Last night a spokesman for YouTube said: "YouTube is a community site used by millions of people in very positive ways.

"Sadly, as with any form of communication, there is a tiny minority of people who try to break the rules.

"On YouTube, these rules prohibit content like pornography or gratuitous violence.

"When people see content they think is inappropriate they can flag it up and our staff then review it.

"If the content breaks our terms then we remove it and if a user repeatedly breaks the rules we disable their account."

The video is the latest violent clip to be posted on the internet in the past year.

In March, The Argus offered a £1,000 reward to find the man who goaded two 12-year-old cousins into scrapping in their bedroom.

The videos caused public outrage and a 21-year-old was cautioned by police for aiding and abetting a common assault after he handed himself in.

And last October, a whole class at Central Sussex College in College Road, Crawley, was suspended after students posted a clip online of them bullying their teacher.
