A “Nordic-style” nursery is aiming to put nature at the heart of children’s education as it opens its doors this month.
Happy Learners Day Nursery is set to open in September aiming to create a curriculum inspired by schooling techniques in Finland.
The nursery’s plans include support with healthy living and play as well as providing a bespoke space for children to be looked after.
Director, Madelaine Berlin, whose experience includes working with royal families, said: “This has been about 20 years in the making for me.

“In Finland they place the development of emotional intelligence in such high regard.”
The nursery, based in Edward Avenue in Hove, includes a dietician who has worked with Jamie Oliver as well as professors from Finland.
The nursery says children learn with “curiosity, kindness, bravery, joy and muddy boots” and aims to frequently expose children to nature during their early education.
