A man threatened to kill his uncle in revenge after a family dispute ended up in court, a court was told.

Paul Streatfield, 39, is accused of shouting out to his uncle, Kevin Streatfield: "You can run and you can hide but I am going to kill you."

Streatfield, of Tarring Close, Newhaven, denies two offences of threatening his uncle at a trial at Lewes Crown Court.

The court heard Streatfield and his uncle, who is only two years older, grew up together and were part of a close family.

But in 2006 they fell out following a series of disputes between them, including claims that one of Kevin Streatfield's six children had stolen from his nephew's family.

Streatfield is accused of making a gesture with his hand across his neck to indicate he would cut his uncle's throat and then shouting out he was going to kill him.

The case continues.
