Hundreds of drivers have had their speeding fines cancelled because of a postal blunder by police.
Drivers caught on camera breaking the speed limit were not given long enough to respond to the tickets because they had been sent by second class post.
Sussex Police and the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership both confirmed they have been forced to act after discovering the problem which affected fines sent in May this year.
One driver contacted The Argus after his wife was given a notice informing her she was liable to receive a £60 fine and three penalty points on her licence.
He complained to the office which issued the ticket because he received it 18 days after it was posted - despite the fact it required her to send her details within 28 days of it being sent.
