A teenager has been bailed after her arrest on suspicion of causing a public nuisance and wasting police time.

A person climbed onto the roof of Hove Town Hall on Tuesday, September 5, and was seen sitting there. Emergency services surrounded the building late into the evening.

Sussex Police have now confirmed that a 15-year-old girl was arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "At 7pm on Tuesday, September 5, emergency services were called to Hove Town Hall in Norton Road following a report that a person had climbed onto the roof of the building.

"Officers attended and engaged with the person and they were safely escorted down from the building.

"A 15-year-old girl from Hove was arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance and wasting police time. She has been released on bail pending further enquiries."

Pictures from the scene showed a person wearing pink crocs and climbing on scaffolding on Hove Town Hall.

They were then met by officers on the roof and later arrested and escorted off.
