Detectives hunting for a missing woman ended a two-day search of her family home without finding a body.

Specialist teams returned to Ferring, near Worthing, on Wednesday to search for the body of 48-year-old Elaine Taggart.

She has has not been seen since January 3. Her husband, Andy, has been on bail since he was arrested on suspicion of her murder in April.

Officers from Sussex Police's major crime branch, which is investigating Mrs Taggart's disappearance, said they were acting on the basis of intelligence they had received when they resumed the search at her home.

They used hi-tech equipment supplied by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to explore the garden of the house in Ferringham Lane.

As the search ended tonight a spokesman for Sussex Police said: "The search has been wound down and nothing of any significance has been found."
