Work is well underway on a new business park.

Construction company Glencar is transforming a brownfield site adjacent to Shoreham Airport and the A27 dual carriageway into Panattoni Park Brighton, which will be made up of five high-tech units.

Adur District Council said the regeneration of the site is progressing well with the pad foundations, which support the framed structures, expected to be completed this month.

The installation of cladding and roofing will take place at the site over various nights from mid-September as there are Shoreham Airport height restrictions during the day, the council said.

The work is expected to last until November 6, 2023.

An ecologist has carried out a site survey to confirm no skylarks are onsite and once the project is completed in spring 2024, various bird houses will be installed there.

The development will create new jobs both in the short-term and long-term.

The council said the work is part of a wider programme to breathe new life into the district as the park will bring forward “significant new employment and attract new businesses into the area”.

Earlier this year the council also approved a development that will see Frosts Cars site in Brighton Road, Shoreham, developed to create 176 apartments, including dozens of affordable homes, and business space.

A council spokesman said Shoreham Airport is at the heart of the long-term Panattoni project and that the plans will see “two areas on the south side of the site modernised”.

Last week, the community was invited to a “meet the contractor” event onsite at Cecil Pashley Way opposite the large pumping station.

The event gave residents and businesses the opportunity to find out more about the project and discuss any concerns.

There are also plans for an additional meeting to be scheduled in the next couple of months.

Residents and businesses, including Shoreham Airport, have also sent an update through the post, while the community board, which is located on top of the flood defence to the east of the site, will also publish information on the scheme, the council said.
