These are some of the people convicted of drink driving across Sussex.

Some five per cent of all car crashes in the UK involve at least one driver or rider over the legal alcohol limit.

In England, the drink drive limit is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath and 80 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of blood.

Some of the drivers here were nearly three times the legal limit.

Ronnie Roberts, 18, drove a car in Admiral Retail Park, Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne, while over the limit on July 4 this year. He had 95 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Roberts, from Solway, Hailsham, pleaded guilty on August 16 at Hastings Magistrates’ Court.

He had to do 120 hours of unpaid work which could be reduced if he completes an awareness course. He was banned from driving for 24 months which was reduced by 24 weeks with the guilty plea taken into account. Roberts was also ordered to pay £199 costs.

Fernando Lopez, 31, drove a Ford Fiesta while over the limit on March 19 this year in Downland Drive, Crawley. He had 52 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Lopez, of Queensway, Horsham, pleaded guilty on June 7 at Brighton Magistrates’ Court. He was banned from driving for 14 months which was reduced by 14 weeks taking into account the guilty plea and him completing an awareness course.

He also had to pay £295 costs.

Martyn Foskett, 42, drove a Nissan Quashqai in Common Hill West, Chiltington, on June 3 while over the limit.

Foskett, of Durrington in Worthing, had 93 micrograms of alcohol which exceeded the prescribed limit.

He was ordered to do 50 hours of unpaid work and was disqualified from driving for 24 months which can be reduced by 24 weeks based on his guilty plea and an awareness course.

He was ordered to pay £199 costs.

Temitayo Famosaya, 25, was stopped in a BMW 3 Series along Old London Road, Hastings, on June 2, 2022, and found to have 77mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

Famosaya, of Abbey Wood, Greenwich, changed his plea to guilty on April 3 this year at Brighton Magistrates' Court. 

He was fined £350 and told to pay £285 costs. He was disqualified from driving for 17 months which will be reduced by 17 weeks based on his guilty plea and if he completes an awareness course by March 6, 2024.
