A school set to be closed down to make way for a new academy has been given a glowing report by inspectors.
A team of Ofsted officials labelled Herbert Shiner Intermediate School in South Grove, Petworth, as grade two, considered good, following a visit on June 10 and 11.
The 159 pupil school for 10 to 13-year-olds is set to be closed when the proposed Midhurst Academy opens in September 2009.
Inspector Christine Jones said: "This good school is held in affection and high regard by students and parents alike. Overall standards are above average, test results are improving and students make good progress from their starting points on entry to the school because their individual needs are identified quickly and provided for well."
