The UK’s biggest Eurovision convention is coming to Brighton to celebrate 50 years since Abba’s famous win.

EurovizCon will host its first event in the city next year, commemorating half a century since the Swedish sensations swept through the competition with their hit Waterloo.

The convention, which will includes an “All Star Eurovision live concert”, will be the first of its kind in the country and will celebrate everything about the singing competition.

Mark Strange, the producer behind the event, said: “’When it comes to live music, there’s nothing more iconic, fun and joyous than Eurovision.

“So what better time and place to launch this inaugural event than in Brighton, home of the most diverse and vibrant community in the country, exactly 50 years since it crowned Abba winners with Waterloo.

“EurovizCon will celebrate every glorious moment of Eurovisions past – the history, the memorabilia, the interactive immersion, and of course the music.

“Two almighty days of the most spectacular Eurovision bliss that you can imagine culminating with a live show of Eurovision star performances, soon to be announced. This is one not to miss.”

Alongside the concert the convention will celebrate the history of Eurovision from its 1950s roots through to the current star-spangled iteration of the contest.

Other activities at the two-day convention at the Brighton Centre will include guest speakers, karaoke and piano bingo.

Eurovision was once again held in the UK this year with Liverpool hosting the show on behalf of Ukraine.

Sweden once again won the competition meaning the contest will be hosted in Scandinavia exactly 50 years since Abba won with Waterloo at Brighton Dome.
