An elderly woman who was hit by a car on a busy road on Wednesday died in hospital today.
The 85-year-old, who has not yet been named, was crossing the A22, south of the Bell Lane junction, in Uckfield, when she was struck by a white Fiat Punto being driven by a 21-year-old man.
She died at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, at just after 1am having suffered serious head and leg injuries.
A police spokesman said no arrest had yet been made.
