With regard to the letters about peacocks in Hurstpierpoint (Letters, June 30), we had two of these beautiful, intelligent birds arrive in Cornwells Bank, North Chailey, last year. We were all so fond of them.
We even named them Percy and Priscilla.
Yes, they squawk really loudly, especially in the early morning.
From September to January they used to roost and sleep on top of my chimney. They were fantastic to watch and Percy used to fly up so high.
From January Percy decided to sleep on my neighbour's roof and every morning he would be there until about 8am looking very striking.
However, about six weeks ago they left and my neighbours and I were so upset and concerned.
I even took a close look at the TV report on the peacocks in Hurstpierpoint as Percy was quite distinctive as he had a long quill dragging from his fan tail.
