Is Telscombe Town Council always going to play second fiddle to Peacehaven?
At a recent committee meeting Deputy Mayor Ron Maskell confirmed that at least 18 meetings of Telscombe Town Council had to be rearranged last year as they clashed with Peacehaven Town Council meetings.
The problem exists as many councillors from Peacehaven now serve on both councils. This is pertinent when one considers Southern Water's proposed waste-water treatment works at Lower Hoddern Farm.
Should the application be approved will those joint councillors be campaigning to ensure that all planning gains money will be spent in Peacehaven? Or will they campaign for money to be spent on improving severely degraded public beaches at the Portobello pumping station in Telscombe which forms part of the application? This would certainly find favour with many Telscombe residents?
Will these joint councillors find they have a conflict of interest?
