What is it you do?
We carry out all kinds of building work across Brighton and Hove.

Why did you pick that?
I really enjoy the creative side of building and seeing the end product as a permanent fixture in my home town.

What makes you greener than other organisations?
One of our policies is to recycle all building materials. An example of this is wood-recycling projects which create animal bedding products or MDF. We also recycle building materials that are surplus to requirements via the website www.leftovers.com, making the products available for other builders to utilise.

What is your latest green obsession?
We are encouraging customers to choose energy-efficient boilers and increase thermal insulation products for energy saving.

How hard is it to be truly green in Sussex?
The Government has some great green initiatives, some of which are financial incentives for building low-carbon buildings and installing solar panels.

Grants are also available for cavity wall installation making your home more energy efficient thus producing less carbon emissions. I make all new customers aware of these schemes.

What do you think of carbon-offsetting?
If you can put systems in place to reduce your carbon footprint, all well and good.

What's your guiltiest green secret?
It's not really guilty, it's actually quite a good thing - I have horses and I give all my horse poo to my customers for their gardens. They love it.

What is the biggest thing you have sacrificed to be green?
Financial costs. These energy-saving products are still too expensive.

Are you a climate worrier or are you more optimistic?
I think we are now more environmentally aware. Education is the only way forward in preventing climate change. The more we can promote more eco-friendly ways to exist, the less impact we will have on the environment we live in.

What is your skill for when the oil runs out?
I don't think oil will run out. Canada has huge reserves, the Arab states can increase production if they want to.

I think we need to focus more on diplomatic relationships with these countries to ensure we can maintain a constant supply into the UK to service our requirements.

In a nutshell, what's your philosophy on living a greener life?
Think first and consider the planet for the generations to come.
