Trans YouTuber Jamie Raines will appear at the UK’s biggest LGBTQ+ literature festival as it returns to Brighton next week.

The Coast is Queer will offer literature lovers a series of talks, books, spoken word events and ideas from an LGBTQ+ perspective.

The event promises an exciting lineup of nationally and internationally acclaimed gay writers, poets, performers and activists in a three-day festival of accessible and lively in-conversation events, workshops, films and discussions celebrating LGBTQ+ lives and writing.

Among those appearing at the festival is YouTuber and LGBTQ+ advocate Jamie Raines, whose videos include commentary on gender identity and issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.

Co-ordinator Lesley Wood said: “The Coast is Queer is a unique opportunity for audiences to meet some of the boldest and brightest LGBTQ+ writers, thinkers and activists around today.

“The event always stimulates lively discussion and is for anyone who wants to experience some fresh ideas rarely heard in the mainstream.

“The Coast is Queer has grown to represent a significant and exuberant contribution to the UK’s spoken word festival landscape.”

The event will take place from October 12 to 15 at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts on the campus of the University of Sussex, with tickets available online at coastisqueer.com.
